The Bouchercon 2019 Librarians’ Tea has been designed to not only honor our cherished librarians, but also to celebrate the art of taking tea. A traditional English tea will be prepared for 400 in the hotel’s kitchen by The Royal Chef, Darren McGrady — former personal chef for both the Queen of England and Princess Diana and her sons. A list of Bouchercon attendees has been established. Please email Bcon2019@gmail.com if you would like to place your name on the list.

  • Texas author Susan Wittig Albert will serve as Honorary Chair.

  • American Guest of Honor, Hank Phillippi Ryan, will deliver the official librarians’ welcome.

  • Local Guest of Honor Deborah Crombie will introduce Chef McGrady.

  • Chef McGrady will share tales of his royal service, instruct guests on proper tea etiquette, and sign copies of his cookbooks.

  • Librarians will be seated first. A waiting list of Bouchercon non-librarian attendees who’ve requested to be able to be seated for the tea, has been created. Please email Bcon2019@gmail.com if you would like to place your name on the waiting list.
